Colours*

Rich and full-bodied, our colours are carefully prepared to bring out the natural grain of the wood. Durable, our oils let the wood breathe while providing the desired effect.

Colours can be mixed to create unique shades.

For a less intense colour, mix with Tavolo Colourless.

The colour 00 – Colourless provides an amber finish and enhances the wood grain.

The colour 22 – Natural is slightly whitened and helps preserve the whiteness of light woods (pine, maple, cherry, spruce, beech, aspen, etc.). It’s strongly recommended to perform a test beforehand on open-grain and coloured woods (oak, walnut, mahogany, elm, etc.).

For a smoother and softer finish, lightly sand between the last two coats with a 600 or 800 grit sandpaper.

*Colours are for guidance only. Actual colours may vary from screen to screen. Not all colours are available in all formats.

Use

  1. Apply at a temperature above 15 °C.
  2. Ensure the wood is free from any previous finish and meticulously sanded with 100 or 120 grit sandpaper.
  3. Remove dust using a vacuum cleaner.
  4. After sanding, it is recommended to clean the wood with PRATO PREP to remove dust particles, reduce tannins, and enhance colour intensity.
  5. Perform a product test on a hidden surface and let it dry for 24 hours to confirm the result, as it may vary depending on the type of wood used.

Manual Application:

  1. Thoroughly mix with a stick before and during application.
  2. Apply in a thin coat, using circular motions, until the wood is saturated using a STAIN PAD, POLYCOTTON RAGS, short-haired roller, or brush.
  3. After 5 to 15 minutes, wipe the surface dry with clean POLYCOTTON RAGS to remove any excess oil.
  4. Clean tools and accessories used with TOOLS CLEANER AND THINNER, and soak oil-saturated cloths in water before disposing of them in the trash.
  5. Allow 18 to 24 hours to dry.
  6. Repeat all previous steps for the application of the second coat.
  7. For furniture application, it is recommended to sand with 000000 steel wool or 800 grit sandpaper between coats to smooth the finish.

Mechanical Application:

  1. Thoroughly mix with a stick before and during application.
  2. Apply the oil using a brush or short-haired roller.
  3. After 5 to 15 minutes, polish using a floor polisher with a white or beige pad.
  4. If there is excess oil after polishing, place a POLYCOTTON RAG under the pad and run the polisher again to remove excess oil. Replace the cloth when saturated with oil.
  5. Alternatively, apply the oil directly with the polisher by adding a small amount of oil to the center of the pad and rubbing until the product is evenly applied.
  6. Clean tools and accessories used with TOOLS CLEANER AND THINNER, and soak oil-saturated cloths in water before disposing of them in the trash.
  7. Allow 18 to 24 hours to dry.
  8. Repeat all previous steps for the application of the second coat.

Prato-Verde Tools Cleaner and Thinner

For regular cleaning: SECONDO CLEAN

To revive shine and enhance protection every 2 to 3 months: SECONDO MAINTENANCE

For intensive cleaning (degreasing, deep cleaning), as needed: SECONDO PREP

The greatest advantage of oil in wood treatment lies in its ease of maintenance and repair. The key to well-maintained oiled wood is prevention. The longer the interval between treatments, the longer the process will take. When SECONDO CLEAN and SECONDO MAINTENANCE products are no longer sufficient to keep your oiled wood in good condition, it’s a sign that it’s time to consider applying a new layer of oil.

Good general condition (Less resistance against liquids):

  1. Clean the wood with SECONDO CLEAN.
  2. Apply a coat of TAVOLO according to the product instructions.
  3. No sanding or stripping required.

Good general condition (Stains or small damaged areas):

  1. Sand the damaged area with 120-grit sandpaper.
  2. Apply two coats of TAVOLO finishing oil to the sanded area following the product instructions.

Medium general condition (Slight discolouration, multiple stains, reduced resistance against liquids):

  1. Clean the wood with SECONDO PREP.
  2. Apply two coats of TAVOLO according to the product instructions.
  3. No sanding or stripping required.

Poor general condition (Severe discolouration, graying surface, no resistance against liquids, many stains or damaged areas):

  1. If cleaning with SECONDO PREP does not remove the stains and graying, restart the entire procedure with the TAVOLO product.

Keep the product in a sealed container at a temperature between 10°C and 25°C for storage. Under these conditions, the product will maintain its quality for at least 5 years.

If the product has been exposed to cold temperatures, allow it to return to room temperature for 24 hours before using.

After use, soak the rags in water or lay them flat to dry before disposal.

Wipe off any liquid residue before recycling the container.

Any leftover product should be brought to your municipality’s eco-center.

Keep out of reach of children. Keep away from flames or sparks.

DANGER OF COMBUSTION: Materials such as rags used with this product may begin to burn by themselves. After use, put rags in water or lay flat to dry, then discard.
